Fast Optics in a Compact Design: The William Optics Pleiades 68

Introducing the Pleiades 68 from William Optics! This 68mm apochromatic refractor offers remarkable astrophotography performance with its 7 optical lenses. Through its fast focal ratio of f/3.8, William Optic’s patented internal focus design, and a plethora of accessories, this wide field telescope is sure to take your astrophotography to the next level!

With a focal length of 260mm and a 48mm imaging circle, capture large clouds of nebulae in a single frame! The 68mm of aperture offers exceptional light gathering capabilities and the high quality FLP-53 and Super ED lenses provide incredibly sharp photos. Integrating their internal focus design, this William Optics WIFD focuser allows for better balance and stability of your imaging train and eliminates the vignetting seen with traditional rear focus designs. Instead of moving your camera within the focal plane, the optics themselves shift to reach ideal focus. To aid in functionality, William Optics has included various accessories to go along with your Pleiades 68 telescope. A dual use Bahtinov mask/dust cover, sturdy mounting rings, a saddle handlebar, tilt adapter, and a soft carry case is included with this refractor, just to name a few. These accessories match perfectly with the blue and black aesthetic of the Pleiades line of telescopes for a sleek and sophisticated look!

Integrated Tilt Adapter

If you need to adjust the sitting angle of your camera, this built-in tilt adapter does just that! Simply remove the back cover of the telescope and adjust the screws on this adapter in a push or pull manner. This easy alignment provides sharp focus across your entire frame, maximizing your image quality.

Elevate Your Astrophotography With These Advancements!

Key features included with the Pleiades 68 telescope make it a perfect addition amongst your astroimaging gear. The premier optics provide stunning photos filled with clarity and the internal focuser offers a robust mounting system for your camera. With the included accessories, effortlessly take this telescope with you to your next star party or camping trip. Take a look below and see why this Pleiades 68 is a cut above the rest!

Prime Optics
Featuring an outstanding 7 optical elements, the Pleiades 68 delivers exceptional astrophotography performance. Making this an apochromatic refractor is the FLP-53 glass and 3 Super ED lenses for superior color correction. With 68mm in aperture and 260mm in focal length, this speedy f/3.8 system gathers a large amount of light in a short amount of time. Its wide field of view lets you capture vast nebulous regions of the night sky, such as the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex! This refractor supports a 48mm imaging circle and does not require a field flattener, which means pinpoint stars all the way to the corners even with a full frame camera. Please Note: William Optics has implemented a new lens cell design for their impressive new Pleiades line of telescopes. This new design requires a bit of extra attention to ensure the safety and longevity of the optics. William Optics recommends that when not in use the telescope be thoroughly dried, so as to be free of moisture or dew, and then stored in a dry, consistent temperature, space. When storing the telescope they recommend leaving it uncovered while it acclimates to room temperature slowly.

Internal Focuser Design with EAF Compatibility
In typical rear mounted focus designs, the imaging system is moved back and forth, changing the length of optical assembly. This movement pulls your camera away from the telescope, shifting the balance which can result in instability throughout your night of imaging. This issue becomes even more drastic when introducing heavier cameras and other weighty accessories such as filter wheels. Understanding this concern, William Optics has created an internal focusing design to provide rigidity and stability to your set up. Instead of moving the imaging equipment, the optics within the telescope itself moves, providing a solid, fixed system. Not only does this create better balance, this also eliminates the vignetting seen with traditional focus designs. Facilitating this is the 10:1 Rack & Pinion mechanism which offers two focusing speeds to dial in your desired focus. Wanting to automate your set up? Easily attach a motorized focuser, such as the ZWO EAF, to your Pleiades 68 with the in-depth instructions within the manual.

The Perfect Upgrades
Coming with numerous accessories, William Optics has you set up for success! Included with your telescope is the dual use dust cover/Bahtinov mask to make manual focus a breeze. A saddle handlebar allows for the attachment of additional accessories such as the William Optics UniGuide or the Apertura 32 mm Guide Scope and provides wonderful portability. Also included is a retractable dew shield, mounting ring, dovetail, camera rotator, tilt adapter, and a soft carry case. These additions provide functionality and pair beautifully with your Pleiades 68, creating a powerful and stylish set up!

Portable Performance
With a length of only 13.6” (346mm), this powerful refractor can be taken on any astrophotography adventure! The saddle handlebar makes this an easy grab and go system and the soft carry case provides protection and organization. This compact refractor is 6.57lbs (2.98kg) by itself and only 8.38lbs(3.80kg) with the mounting ring, dovetail and saddle, making it perfect for small, lightweight travel mounts such as the ZWO AM3 or AM5! Take advantage of these high performance optics no matter where you go!
