The Takahashi Collimating Scope is designed to easily collimate your Ritchey-Chretien, Mewlon, CN-212, Dall-Kirkham, classical Cassegrain, or refractors with a focal length of at least 1000mm. You can also use the Takahashi Collimating Telescope to collimate our GSO Ritchey-Chretiens. Make sure your telescope's secondary is center-spotted, as this is required for use with the Takahashi Collimating Scope.

This specialized 6 x 18 telescope's front objective is fitted with a highly polished mirror, set at a 45-degree angle to the telescope's light path. A sighting hole has been placed in the center of the mirror, and the collimating scope looks through it. When a light is shone through the white window on the side of the collimating scope, the mirror is illuminated and it projects a round white disk with a central sighting hole onto the optics being aligned.

When you combine the 6X magnification and precision of the collimating scope and the fact that it is always centered in the light path (due to the fact that it slides into the focuser), you will achieve highly accurate collimation. An instruction manual is included with the Collimating Scope and there are several PDF's online that discuss proper use of the Takahashi Collimating Scope.

Important Note: . If you will be using this collimating scope on a Takahashi refractor you will need the S Coupling (TSP0030) to connect the scope directly to the focuser drawtube, since this product does not work with a diagonal. If you are going to be using the collimation scope on other telescopes, you will need the TCN0050 2" Adapter in order to connect it to a 2" focuser.
