LS50THa Enhanced Kit — 50mm Dedicated H-Alpha Solar Telescope Same outstanding pressure-tuned optics. Now with the precision and eyepiece range to match your growing experience.
The LS50THa Enhanced Kit upgrades two things that matter most once you have spent time at the eyepiece: mechanical precision and magnification range.
The 1.25" rack-and-pinion focuser replaces the standard helical design with CNC-machined components, an integrated brake that eliminates focus drift, and the load capacity to handle cameras and filter wheels when you are ready to image. The difference is immediate — smoother travel, positive lock, and the confidence that your focus point stays exactly where you set it.
Three flat-field eyepieces cover the magnification range you will actually use. The 8mm (44x) pushes in tight on active regions when seeing cooperates. The 12mm (29x) is your all-purpose solar eyepiece — enough magnification for surface detail with enough field to keep context. The 16mm (22x) pulls back for full-disk views and prominence surveys along the limb. All three feature 60° apparent fields and 0.1% AR coatings, minimising ghost reflections in the narrow-band optical path.
What You'll See
Everything the LS50THa reveals at 0.6Å bandpass, now with the magnification range to explore it all. At 44x through the 8mm eyepiece, active regions resolve into intricate structures of light and dark, and prominence detail sharpens from soft arcs into defined loops and threads. At 22x through the 16mm, the full solar disk fills the field with context — survey the entire limb for prominence activity, trace filament paths across the hemisphere, and watch the slow evolution of active regions over the course of a session. Doppler True pressure tuning remains your most powerful tool. Scan through the chromosphere at any magnification. Watch structures appear and recede as you shift through the hydrogen-alpha line. Three eyepieces mean you are always observing at the right power for the conditions and the target.
Why This Package
This is the package for the observer who has caught the solar bug and wants to go deeper. The rack-and-pinion focuser is a permanent upgrade to your observing experience — once you feel the difference in mechanical precision, you will not want to go back. Three dedicated solar eyepieces mean you always have the right magnification without compromise. And like all Lunt 50mm systems, the Enhanced is fully double-stack capable — add the new-generation LS50C at any time to bring combined system bandpass to ~0.30Å.
