Building upon their popular Regal ED spotting scope line, Celestron has created a new Regal ED series of flat field binoculars. As with all Regal ED binoculars, this 8x42 model features ED glass objective and flat field lenses for sharp, comprehensive views with enhanced resolution for exceptionally true-to-life color.

Celestron focused on birding enthusiasts, the most selective of all binocular users, when coming up with the design for their new premiere line of high performing Regal ED Flat Field Binoculars. With intense, lifelike color reproduction, along with a far-reaching view field for easy location of fast moving objects, and 4.9 ft. close focus distance to give viewers an up-close look at subjects that suddenly appear seemingly out of nowhere right in front of you, Celestron Regal ED binoculars live up to even the most discerning of users. This provides assurance that they will be ready to take on a wide variety of outdoor challenges.

ED Objective Lenses

Chromatic aberration, also known as color fringing, is an annoying visual defect frequently encountered in binoculars that occurs when different wavelengths of light scatter during passage through the optical lenses. This is as good as eliminated with the Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass used for this binocular's objective lenses. Scenes viewed through TrailSeeker ED binoculars are sharp from edge to edge with superb color correction and distinct images.

The quality of some ED glass, like that used by these Celestron 8x42 binoculars, is notably higher than other ED glass. Because of this, Regal ED binoculars are able to produce images that are clearly brighter and sharper than those produced by binoculars without internal ED glass. The difference becomes particularly evident when viewing in a low light environment, such as at sunrise or sunset.

Flat Field Technology

In addition to using ED glass, Regal ED binoculars incorporate flat field technology that counter-balances the normal visual field curvature convex lenses naturally show, delivering an expansive linear image all the way to the edges of the field of view.

Coatings and Prisms

Regal ED binocular optics are fully multi-coated, a distinction bestowed only when multiple layers of anti-reflective coatings are applied all air-to-glass surfaces to enable maximum light transmission through the glass to your eye.

The interior Regal ED binocular prism consists of high quality phase-coated and dielectric-coated BaK-4 glass. This allows more light to be reflected off the prism and diverted through to your eye. Combining BaK-4 prisms and fully multi-coated optics maximizes light transmission for the brightest, most detailed images possible.

Binocular Body

To prevent damage caused by general attrition while keeping its weight to a minimum, these well-balanced, ergonomically designed Regal ED binoculars feature magnesium alloy construction. Observing through the Regal ED is a comfortable experience for both eyeglass wearing and non-eyeglass wearing viewers as a result of durable metal twist-up eyecups. Find your ideal position by twisting through multiple click stops. Fully waterproof, these binoculars are filled with dry nitrogen gas to protect against internal lens fogging.

Perfect for a Variety of Uses

Celestron 8x42 Regal ED binoculars have a close focus of just 4.9 feet, making them perfect for viewing birds, butterflies, plants, or other nearby subjects. For distance viewing, the 8x42 model offers a wide field of view so you can easily follow subjects as they move with less need to move the binoculars.

Ways to Observe

Carry your Regal ED binoculars with the included padded strap or on the cross-body carry harness for additional comfort. It’s also tripod-adaptable, so you can mount it on any standard photographic tripod for extended viewing or digiscoping (photography through the eyepiece). A tripod adapter is sold separately. The included one-piece eyepiece cover keeps rain, dust, and other substances off your eyepiece lenses in the field and protects them while in storage, while the tetherable objective covers provide additional protection for the Regal’s all-important objective ED lenses. This binocular also includes a premiere quality hard shell case for secure storage and transport.
