The Askar SQA85 is a fast, wide-field astrograph designed for deep-sky astrophotography and full-frame imaging. It features an 85mm aperture, 408mm focal length, and fast f/4.8 focal ratio, providing a wide field of view that is well suited for large nebulae, galaxies, star fields, and other extended deep-sky targets.
The SQA85 uses a five-element, fully air-spaced Petzval APO optical design incorporating two SD glass elements. The Petzval design provides built-in field flattening, allowing the SQA85 to produce a flat imaging field without requiring a separate field flattener. The 44mm image circle supports full-frame cameras.
The SQA85 features a 2.8" dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser with 32mm of travel. A built-in 360° rotator allows the camera orientation to be adjusted while maintaining a rigid connection to the optical system.
The retractable dew shield helps reduce the telescope's overall size for storage and transportation. The integrated tube ring features multiple threaded mounting points and a multifunctional handle/finder base for attaching accessories. A 290mm Vixen-style dovetail plate is included.
The rear of the telescope includes interchangeable M48, M54, and M68 adapters. The SQA85 supports a rear connection distance from 40mm to 70mm, with 55mm recommended.
