The Askar SQA70 is a compact, fast astrograph designed for wide-field deep-sky astrophotography. It features a 70mm aperture, 336mm focal length, and fast f/4.8 focal ratio, making it well suited for capturing large nebulae, star fields, and other extended deep-sky objects.
The SQA70 uses a five-element, air-spaced Petzval APO optical design incorporating two ED glass elements. Its 44mm image circle provides full-frame coverage, while the Petzval design incorporates field flattening directly into the optical system. This allows the SQA70 to be used for astrophotography without requiring a separate field flattener.
The optical system is designed to provide sharp stars across the full-frame image circle, with the manufacturer specifying an RMS star radius of less than 1.84 µm at the center and less than 2.4 µm at the edge of the field.
The SQA70 features a 2.5" dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser with 32mm of travel and an integrated 360° rotator. The rear of the telescope includes M42, M48, and M54 adapters, providing flexibility when connecting cameras and other astrophotography accessories.
The rear connection distance can be adjusted between 37mm and 68mm, with 55mm recommended. The M48 adapter also includes a 2" filter thread.
