The Askar SQA106 is a high-performance wide-field astrograph designed for deep-sky astrophotography and high-resolution imaging. It features a 106mm aperture, 509mm focal length, and fast f/4.8 focal ratio, providing a wide field of view while gathering substantial light for astrophotography.
The SQA106 uses a five-element, fully air-spaced Petzval APO optical design incorporating two SD glass elements. The Petzval design provides integrated field flattening, eliminating the need for a separate field flattener and simplifying camera setup.
One of the standout features of the SQA106 is its large 55mm image circle. It fully covers standard full-frame sensors with a 44mm image circle and can also support medium-format imaging up to 55mm.
The SQA106 is designed to provide excellent star performance across the imaging field. Sharpstar specifies an RMS star radius of less than 1.65 µm at the center of the field and less than 2.2 µm at the corner.
The telescope features a retractable dew shield to reduce its overall length during storage and transport. Its integrated tube-ring assembly provides multiple mounting points for accessories, while the included 300mm Losmandy-style dovetail plate provides a solid connection to compatible equatorial mounts.
The rear of the telescope accepts M48, M54, and M68 adapters and supports a connection distance between 48mm and 78mm, with 55mm recommended for optimal performance.
