The Askar 65PHQ is a compact, full-frame flat-field astrograph designed for astrophotography while remaining well suited for visual observation. Its 65mm aperture and 416mm focal length provide a useful combination of wide field of view and moderate focal length, making it well suited for photographing nebulae, galaxies, star clusters, and other deep-sky targets.
The 65PHQ uses a quintuplet air-spaced APO optical design incorporating two ED elements for strong chromatic aberration control. Its integrated flat-field design eliminates the need for a separate field flattener and simplifies camera setup by eliminating the need to calculate a separate flattener backfocus. The 44mm image circle provides full-frame coverage.
The telescope features a 2.5" rack-and-pinion focuser with 1:10 fine adjustment and an integrated 360° rotator with graduated markings for precise camera framing. Three photographic adapter configurations are included, providing M68, M54, and M48 connections. The M48 adapter includes an internal 2" filter thread.
The retractable dew shield, multifunction handle, tube rings, and 300mm Vixen-style dovetail make the 65PHQ a compact and versatile imaging platform. An optional 0.75x full-frame reducer can also be used to produce a faster optical system with a wider field of view.
