The Askar 185APO is a large-aperture apochromatic refractor designed for high-resolution astrophotography and demanding visual astronomy. With a 185mm aperture and 1295mm focal length, it provides substantial light-gathering power, resolution, and image scale for detailed views and imaging of galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, the Moon, and planets.
The 185APO uses a triplet air-spaced APO objective incorporating one ED glass element for effective chromatic aberration correction. Its f/7 focal ratio provides a useful balance between optical performance, focal length, and versatility for both visual observing and astrophotography.
A large 3.5" dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser features 100mm of focusing travel and a precision 360° rotator with graduated markings. Two finder bases are provided on the focuser, allowing convenient mounting of a finder or other accessories.
The telescope incorporates a retractable dew shield and a 95mm retractable rear lens tube. Retracting the rear lens tube provides additional optical-path flexibility for visual observing and binoviewer use, while extending it allows the telescope to be configured with the optional 1x flattener or 0.8x reducer for astrophotography.
The 185APO includes a pair of integrated tube rings, multifunction handle, 400mm Losmandy-style dovetail plate, and aluminum carrying case.
