The Askar 140APO is a large-aperture apochromatic refractor designed for both astrophotography and visual astronomy. With a 140mm aperture and 980mm focal length, it provides excellent light-gathering capability and resolution for detailed observation and deep-sky imaging.
The 140APO uses a triplet air-spaced APO objective incorporating one ED glass element for improved chromatic aberration correction. Its long f/7 focal ratio provides a versatile combination of image scale, resolution, and manageable exposure requirements for astrophotography.
A large 3.5" dual-speed rack-and-pinion focuser provides 100mm of focusing travel and includes a precision 360° rotator with graduated markings. The focuser is designed to accommodate both visual accessories and astrophotography equipment, while two finder bases provide additional mounting options.
The 140APO features a retractable dew shield and a 125mm rear retractable lens tube. This design allows the telescope to be used with a variety of observing configurations, including binoviewers. The rear of the focuser accepts both 2" and 1.25" visual accessories.
The telescope includes a pair of tube rings, multifunction handle, 300mm Losmandy-style dovetail plate, Oxford cloth carrying case, and manual.
Optional 1x field flattener and 0.8x reducer accessories are available for astrophotography. The 0.8x reducer produces approximately 784mm at f/5.6 while providing field flattening.
