Did you buy a big, beautiful digital SLR but you are still using it as a "point and shoot"?

Perhaps you have been wondering why your photos don't seem to be as good as your friend who owns the exact same camera?!

You may be asking yourself: "Is it me or the equipment?" Or maybe you'd like to buy a camera and want to know what to consider before making the purchase.

This beginner digital photography class is meant to help you master your digital camera.

Learn the basic functions of your camera so you can begin to shoot in manual mode, capturing higher-quality images of the people and places around you.

Mr. Jeffrey Norwood, lifelong photographer and owner of Camera Concepts & Telescope Solutions in Stony Brook, NY will show you how to see the world like a photographer, whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been taking photos for years. It is not required but students are encouraged to bring the camera, a notebook, and, most important, your instruction manual  to the class!

These workshops are structured to be highly practical and very "hands on" in a "virtual" environment.

This lecture and workshop will provide the answers.

Workshops are held exclusively online via zoom on Saturday afternoons.

Each workshop begins at 5pm and runs approximately one hour in length.

This is the first part of a series of three introductory workshops that will allow you to get a running start in understanding all of the intricate details on how to get the most satisfaction in your endeavor to travel to the stars!

This particular session will deal with the following topics:

  • Lenses and Optical Challenges
  • Understanding Focal Length and Field of View
  • Advanced White Balance Techniques
  • Flash Photography
  • Natural Lighting
  • Artificial Lighting in the Studio
  • Exposure Compensation
  • How Digital Imaging Works

If you enjoy this first class, be sure to visit the website again to register for the two followup classes. Cost of registration for these additional classes are $25 each.
