The iOptron HAE43C-EC is a dual-mode mount head (Alt-Azimuth and Equatorial) that uses advanced Strain-Wave Gear (SWG) drives for both the RA and DEC axes. The “EC” designation indicates the inclusion of a high-precision RA axis encoder. Designed for portability without sacrificing performance, the mount offers a strong payload capacity relative to its weight.
Key Features
-
Strain-Wave Gear system on both axes (RA & DEC) for minimal backlash, high precision and compact form factor.
-
High-precision RA axis encoder (EC version) for enhanced tracking accuracy, potentially enabling longer exposures with less guiding.
-
Dual-mode operation: can be configured in Alt-Az mode for visual observing or switched to Equatorial mode for tracking / imaging.
-
Excellent weight-to-payload ratio: payload capacity ~44 lb (20 kg) without counterweight, with mount head weight ~12.6 lb (5.7 kg) including saddle.
-
Built-in electronic friction brake for safe stop in case of power interruption.
-
CNC-machined all-metal construction with anodized finish, durable and field-worthy.
-
Dual dovetail saddle compatible with Vixen & Losmandy-D style plates — provides flexibility in optical tube mounting.
-
USB-C port / computer connectivity for firmware upgrades or control (ASCOM/INDI) when used without handset.
