The HAE43B-EC is a high-performance dual-mode mount head from iOptron, designed for both Alt-Azimuth (AZ) and Equatorial (EQ) operation (“AZ/EQ Dual”). It uses advanced strain-wave-gear (SWG) drives on both the RA and DEC axes, delivering compact, high-precision performance. According to iOptron, the mount features an integrated iMate computer board (for device/tablet/PC control) and includes a high-precision RA encoder (“EC” version) for real-time periodic error correction.
Key Features
-
Strain‐wave gear drives on both RA & DEC axes—compact and backlash-minimized motion system.
-
Dual‐mode design: Use the head in AZ mode for simpler visual observing, or switch to EQ mode for tracking/astrophotography.
-
Payload capacity: ~44 lb (≈20 kg) without counterweight in ideal conditions.
-
Mount head weight: approx. 12.8 lb (≈5.8 kg) including the dovetail saddle.
-
iMate integrated computing/control board: enables computer/PC control and advanced connectivity (USB-C, etc).
-
High precision RA encoder (the “EC” designation): supports improved tracking accuracy, enabling longer imaging sessions with less dependence on guiding.
-
Electronic friction brake + power-down memory: The mount can safely stop in case of power interruption and resume tracking or GoTo functions without full re-alignment.
-
Dual saddle (Vixen + Losmandy style) for flexible optical tube mounting.
-
Integrated ST-4 autoguide port, USB control, dual-mode connectivity.
