The Tele Vue 2.5x Powermate (PMT-2513) is a precision image amplifier designed for use with all 1.25" eyepieces and accessories. Using Powermates™ for Astrophotography & Visual Excellence

For astrophotographers, Powermates™ provide consistent and predictable magnification based on the distance from the Powermate's top surface to the imaging plane (CCD or film). The four models—2x, 2.5x, 4x, and 5x—offer flexibility for nearly any imaging setup.

1.25" Powermates™ – 2.5x & 5x

Compact and highly functional, the 1.25" Powermates™ extend less than 3" from the focuser and are parfocal in all 1.25" star diagonals and prisms. This makes them ideal for compact refractors such as the Tele Vue-60, as well as for general use in 1.25" setups.

• 5x Powermate™: Magnifies up to 7.7x, making it excellent for high-magnification CCD or film imaging. It’s a powerful yet elegant alternative to eyepiece projection and is especially well-suited for Hydrogen-alpha solar observing, where a longer effective focal length is critical.
• Threaded for 1.25" filters, with a compact and lightweight form factor ideal for portable rigs or balance-sensitive mounts.

2" Powermates™ – 2x & 4x

Optimized for use in 2" diagonals, these models are virtually parfocal, requiring only minimal refocusing—unlike many traditional 2" Barlows. Their 48mm filter threading, brass compression rings, and broad eyepiece compatibility make them a high-end solution for both visual and imaging applications.

• Compatible with all Tele Vue 1.25" and 2" eyepieces, including demanding models like the 31mm Nagler Type 5.
• Both the 2" eyepiece holder and the included flat-top adapter provide secure attachment and precise alignment for heavy eyepieces or imaging gear.
• A standout feature: the eyepiece housing is removable, allowing you to attach a Tele Vue T-Ring adapter directly for secure, compact camera mounting—ideal for prime focus imaging.

Impressive Example: With the 4x Powermate, your 35mm Panoptic effectively becomes an 8.8mm eyepiece—while maintaining its original 25mm of eye relief. And since Powermates aren’t Barlows, no Panoptic-Barlow Interface is needed.

• Both 2" models fit fully into standard 2" star diagonals, preserving balance and requiring less refocusing compared to typical 2" Barlows.

Special Note for Dobsonian & Newtonian Users

When using a Tele Vue Paracorr coma corrector:

• For the 2.5x or 5x (1.25") Powermates™, insert them into the Paracorr’s 1.25" adapter—between the Paracorr and your eyepiece.
• For the 2x or 4x (2") Powermates™, insert the Powermate first into the focuser, then the Paracorr into the Powermate.
