  • Q: Do you modify these lasers?

A: No, our lasers are 100 percent un-modified. Some sellers modify lasers by turning up the amperage and thus burn battery power and risk damage from overheating  Other sellers claim their amperage moves during transit. Be skeptical of these claims. They violate standard practices that are followed by legitimate laser manufacturers. Our lasers are manufactured at their designated output power. Absolutely no modification work is performed on our lasers

Q: How do I know that my laser is delivering its full advertised power?

A: Measuring the output of a portable laser is relatively easy. We use a  Laser Power meter, along with other laboratory equipment, to ensure that laser output is what we say it is. Each laser is carefully tested at least 3x to insure its reliability. If you would like to check for yourself, you can obtain a Laser Power Meter from websites such as eBay. You can also visually compare our lasers to a >5mW green laser pointer to see the dramatic difference.

Q: What is the difference between the "steady-on" and the standard push button version?

A: The push button power control is a safety feature. It ensures that if the laser is dropped the beam will not accidentally be shined into someone's eyes. This is the model we recommend if you will be using the laser mostly by hand. The steady-on version is very convenient if you choose to use the laser as a finderscope for your telescope. We sell a variety of brackets that will fit almost any telescope on the market.

Q: How long can I project a continuous beam?

A: Up to approximately three minutes. Creating a laser beam this powerful also generates heat. Once it begins to heat up, the laser should be left off for a minute or two to cool down.

Q: What are your return and warranty policies?

A: Our lasers are fully waranteed for ONE FULL YEAR from date of purchase. None of our competitors can offer such a long warranty. Each of our lasers are rigorously tested  and thus we are able to stand behind them for such a long warranty period. If there is any problem or malfunction, you may return your laser within one year to obtain a new replacement back, no questions asked The only exception is if the laser has been dropped or abused in any way or if the unit has been disassembled. If you are not satisfied with our laser, you may return it within 7 days for a full refund minus shipping costs.

    Q. What can I do if I need servicing after the warranty period?

    A. CCTS is one of the only importers who service the green lasers that we sell. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO THROW AWAY A LASER THAT WAS PURCHASED FROM US! After the warranty period you can still return your laser to us and we will do whatever repair is necessary to restore your laser to its original working condition. The fee is minimal and basically covers our expense: $25 for a 5mw repair and $50 for a 20mw repair. Please be aware however that these are original factory repairs and thus must be shipped by us to Taiwan for servicing. Due to the cost of shipping we must accumulate at least 3 lasers in order to make the shipping expense affordable. I am happy to report to you that since we get so few returns it can take quite a while for us to accumulate even this small amount of repairs! Therefore, your repair can take up to 2 to 3 months to be returned to you.

Q: Why do more powerful lasers cost more?

A: Not every laser we buy from our suppliers produces the same output level. The key is the crystal). A crystal with good efficiency produces a more powerful beam than a less-efficient crystal using the same current.

The more efficient crystals are more expensive so we must charge more for our lasers that use them.

Q: How soon will I receive my laser?

Your order is processed within 24 hours. You will receive notification that your order has been received and another notification that your laser has been shipped.

U.S. Priority Mail  generally delivers within 3-4 business days.

Q: Are your lasers intended for use as pointers?

A:. Our 5mw laser is typically considered a laser pointer. It is a class IIIa laser with a power rating of less than 5mW. Our higher power 20mw laser is not intended for use as a pointer and should not be used in uncontrolled situations where the beam could be accidentally shined or reflected into a person's eyes.

Although our lasers are used in astronomy, museums, entertainment and educational situations to call attention to objects or to demonstrate the laser itself, the  Arcturus Laser Purchase Agreement specifically forbids the use of our lasers as pointers in typical classroom, meeting or seminar situations.

    Q: Are your lasers legal?

A: Every country's laws governing lasers are different. Usually compact portable laser modules are limited to less than 5mW output. This is a class IIIa laser, typically used as a laser pointer.

Our lasers are class IIIb. This category includes lasers with power ratings between 5mW and 500mW, which are classified by the US FDA as OEM (original equipment manufacturer) laser components for industrial use or for incorporation into another product in accordance with 21 CFR (code of Federal Regulations) 1040.10 and 1040.11. You are fully responsible for determining the suitability of our products for your application and for compliance with the laws of your country.

    Q: Are your lasers dangerous?

A: Any laser can be dangerous if misused. Class IIIb lasers are not toys and should not be used without appropriate precautions.

Serious and even permanent eye damage can be caused by looking directly into the beam of this laser or its direct reflection.

These lasers should not be used by people under 18 years old and they should not be used in uncontrolled public places where the beam could accidentally be projected or reflected into a person's eyes.
